Family Trees
Penn Family Tree
A family tree is an original and unique gift, as a historical document. Working closely with a respected genealogist, Gabrielle can research the family history – where required.

“Thank you so much for the drawing: it’s absolutely gorgeous and our parents were thrilled” Penn Family.

A family tree, comprising three generations and ten names would be 260 mm x 230 mm. Prices start at £500, including gold leaf. A more complex family tree will be calculated accordingly.

A handmade book is a unique way to celebrate the life of a colleague, loved one or to tell the story of a particular event.

1 Sir Peter Parker's retirement book
Dr Mann of Whitehead Mann commissioned a retirement book for Sir Peter Parker. Gabrielle designed the book, in celebration of his life at Whitehead Mann, comprising poems, quotes, illustrations, signature pages, decorations and 18th century calligraphy.

“I have wanted to say to you directly how equally delighted and impressed I have been by the book. You do know how much I think about William Blake as an artist and poet – so your imaginative and beautiful work illustrating ideas means a lot to me. I shall treasure the book.

“I opened it up often during the festivities to make sure that none of those airier and dancing figures had not left the page. Congratulations and many, many thanks. It is work which I will be looking up whenever those moments come up that Blake described as ‘the moments in the Day that Satan cannot find’” Sir Peter Parker
2 Mayers Family House Album
The clients were moving out of their family home after three decades. They wanted a series of illustrations celebrating aspects of their life there over the last 30 years.

“It looks splendid, thank you so much” Mayer Family

3 Birthday Book for a private client of Whitehead Mann
The book comprised an illustrated poem written in an 18th century calligraphy style, with colour illustrations throughout and touches of colour mixed with gold leaf on the borders. (Name and image withheld for privacy).

“The final verdict: COMPLETE DELIGHT!! No other words will do”

A book comprising eight pages starts from £1000, including gold leaf with a paper cover and stitched. Books of a greater pagination will be calculated accordingly. A book binding service can be provided, if required. (Prices calculated according to whether the cover is cloth or leather and a slipcase required.)

A consultation fee of £150, paid at first meeting, will be deducted from the final price.

The Shaker
Garden
These are large-scale commissions for building and garden restorations, documents for film and TV, historical projects, maps, books and more.

1 The Lost Gardens of Heligan
The brief was to design a range of stationery for this garden restoration in Cornwall. The set comprises correspondence paper, greetings cards, bookmarks, recipe cards and labels and an A2 garden map poster – all reflecting life on the Heligan estate in the 1880s.

The examples show ‘Congratulations’ and ‘Miss You’ from ‘Five good reasons to send a card from Heligan’, ‘Vegetable Garden’, ‘Melon Garden’ and ‘Flower Garden’ correspondence paper from the ‘Productive Garden’

Selection and ‘Lost Valley’ correspondence paper from the ‘Pleasure Grounds’ Selection (others in series: ‘Jungle’ and ‘Northern Gardens’).
2 The Shaker Garden
Commissioned by UK publishers David and Charles to produce a set of drawings of plants and garden items in the Shaker style, Gabrielle also designed a complementary calligraphic typeface.

3 Historical Family Tree
This was a very complex family tree comprising detailed descriptions of family members and events dating back to the 12th century. It was divided into three lines, and I used 18th century calligraphy with small touches of decoration and 23-carat gold leaf. (Name and image withheld for privacy).
